Style Your New Beginning in Pantone's Color of the Year
Spring is almost here and Pantone's 2017 color of the year, Greenery (15-0343), is perfect for the season! Pantone says, "Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings...a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew." There is always a story behind a new beginning, so allow your style to tell your story.
I shared a story with a friend about an experience I recently had and she then asked me, "If you were to express that experience through your style, what would that look like?" I found that to be a very interesting and thought provoking question because the situation was something I had never experienced before and one that I thought I would never experience. At first, I wasn't sure of how to answer and then I immediately remembered. I recalled that someone I was with during that experience was wearing something very eye-catching and it was ironically symbolic of the situation. (I'll share more about that story in a future post). The point I want to make is that sometimes a life experience can be used as inspiration to tap into your style. If you are experiencing a new beginning in your life, how would you creatively express that using the color Greenery? Well, a great place to start is by using a color palette. Pantone takes the guess work out of trying to figure out how to combine their color of the year with the right colors by providing several color palettes from neutrals to metallics. For the look I styled today, I combined a Greenery colored flare trouser with a Serenity (blue) flowy blouse. The color Serenity was Pantone's color of the year for 2016. It reminds me of a blue sky which, to me, symbolizes that the sky's the limit! The vibrancy and symbolism of this color combination definitely sets the tone for expressing your new beginning in style!
